Meet the People
Vlass Shabolin Vlass Shabolin was born in 1937 on St. Paul Island. His father was Daniel Shabolin from St. Paul and his mother was Fedocia Tetoff from Unalaska Island. He grew up speaking Unangam Tuunu, the Unangam language, and learned English in grade school. He remembers being evacuated from his home during World War II. Leaving school after 8th grade to help his family, Vlass received most of his education at home from his parents and uncles. He served in the U.S. Marines and was an Alaska State Trooper for eighteen years. He currently resides in Anchorage. |
