Martha Demientieff

Martha Rose McCoin Demientieff was born at Kanatak on the Alaska Peninsula in 1933. She passed away in 2004. She was the daughter of Katia Andrei of Chignik and William McCoin, a trapper and fisherman from Portland, Maine. Mrs. Demientieff grew up in the Bristol Bay area and received her early education at the Catholic mission school at Holy Cross on the Yukon River. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in cross-cultural education from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Masters degree in education from Harvard. [Last updated in 2006]
