Estelle Oozevaseuk

Estelle Oozevaseuk (Penapak) was born in 1920 in Gambell, where she also resided when she passed away in 2013. She is a speaker of the St. Lawrence Island Yupik language. Mrs. Oozevaseuk worked as a health aide, midwife, and teacher. Some of her traditional stories appear in Sivuqam Nangaghnegha: Siivanllemta Ungipaqellghat (Lore of St. Lawrence Island: Echoes of our Eskimo Elders).
