Sylvester Ayek

Sylvester Ayek

Sylvester Ayek (Anaiyak) was born on King Island and lived there until he was twelve, but now resides in Nome. He is a speaker of Bering Strait/King Island Iñupiaq. Mr. Ayek is a subsistence hunter and an artist. He is a sculptor working in wood and ivory with works in museums in Alaska and Washington, DC. He also served as a conservation advisor for the Sharing Our Knowledge project.
