Rachel Riley

Rachel Riley

Rachel Riley was born in 1941 in Kilik, 70 miles West of Anaktuvuk Pass. She is a speaker of North Slope Iñupiaq and her Iñupiaq name is Sisoulik. She is a skilled hunter and skin mask-maker. She also works as a teacher and is passionate about preserving Iñupiaq language and culture, and has helped the North Slope Borough School District create educational literature in Iñupiaq for their students.
