Marie Saclamana

Marie Saclamana

Marie Saclamana was born and raised on King Island and currently resides in Nome. She is a speaker of the King Island dialect of the Iñupiaq language. Mrs. Sacalamana is a well-respected teacher of self-sufficiency, art, culture and Iñupiaq language at the Nome-Beltz schools. She also performs and teaches traditional dance and has danced at the Kingikmiut Dance Festival in Wales. Mrs. Saclamana was selected Elder of the year 2006 by Sitnasuak Native Corporation.
