Delores Churchill

Delores Churchill

Delores Churchill is Haida of the Eagle moiety, and her crests are the Beaver, Frog and Sculpin. Born in Massett, Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands) and raised in Prince Rupert, she currently resides in Ketchikan. She is a speaker of Xaat Kíl, the Haida language and serves on the Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council. Mrs. Churchill is a renowned basket maker in the Haida, Tlingit and Tsimshian styles and a textile weaver in the Raven’s Tail and Chilkat styles. She has been honored with many awards, and her work is held in both public and private collections in Alaska and nationally.
